ASL Courses

Multiple levels of synchronous online ASL classes offered

The goal of these 5-week courses is to enable students to connect with ASL and Deaf culture at the beginner, elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Each level shares core attributes that are:

  • Aimed to develop knowledge of and skills in ASL to broaden the understanding of d/Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing students alike

  • Applicable to a range of relationships including but not limited to parents, siblings, friends, or coworkers who are d/Deaf and/or experiencing hearing loss

  • Built on specific and measurable learning objectives

  • Conversation and vocabulary driven, targeting receptive and expressive growth and vital communication structures through interactive and communicative activities

All classes listed below will be taught online. ​

 

SCHEDULE: Courses held 2x a week in 1.5-hour sessions over 5 weeks​​

Fall 2025 Beginner 1 Course - for students with little to no ASL experience

September 28 - October 29/30 (make-up November 2)

​

Winter 2026 Beginner 1 Course - for students with little to no ASL experience

January 18 - February 18/19 (make-up February 22)

Section 1:  Sundays 9:00am - 10:30am & Wednesdays 7:00pm - 8:30pm 

Section 2:  Sundays 11:00am - 12:30am & Wednesdays 8:00pm - 9:30pm

Section 3:  Sundays 9:00am - 10:30am & Thursdays 7:00pm - 8:30pm

Section 4:  Sundays 10:00am - 11:30am & Thursdays 8:00pm - 9:30pm

*Section assignments are generally based on level determined by placement interview with Section 1 being the most beginner and Section 4 the most advanced. However, at this time we are only offering Beginner 1 classes
